SculpSure vs VASERlipo

VASERlipo is a minimally invasive procedure that uses liposuction technology but is considered a safer and better alternative.  Ultrasound energy is used to shake fat cells loose before they are sucked out. It still involves anaesthesia and surgery, though incisions made are small.

Treatment duration

SculpSure

VASERlipo

SculpSure takes 25 minutes to treat one area and multiple areas can be treated at one because of the set-up of the machine.

For example, both flanks can be treated in the 25-minute session.

VASERlipo takes at minimum an hour since it is a surgical procedure. If you want multiple areas of your body treated it can take multiple hours.

Number of Treatments

SculpSure

VASERlipo

One session of SculpSure usually suffices. This is because multiple areas can be treated at once. If you want to treat your flanks and your stomach, this can be done at the same time. VASERlipo can be completed in one procedure, but this procedure takes significantly longer than SculpSure especially if you want to treat multiple areas.

Uncomfortable Sensations

SculpSure

VASERlipo

During treatment you will initially feel a cooling sensation, followed by a deep warmth and/or tingling. You will be able to continue with your ordinary day after the treatment, though some patients describe mild soreness that does not interfere with their day-to-day activities. During the procedure you won’t feel any pain as you will be under anaesthetic, normally local anaesthetic. After the procedure you will normally experience bruising, numbness and often pain for the following few days.

Marks on the Body

SculpSure

VASERlipo

Since SculpSure uses a laser, there will be no marks left on your body. There is no suction during the procedure so you won’t have suction marks or scars of any sort. VASERlipo can leave scars on your body where the incisions have been made. The rate at which these heal and long-lasting visibility of them is entirely down to the skill of the surgeon that does your procedure.

Aftercare

SculpSure

VASERlipo

No immediate rest or recovery procedures are needed with SculpSure. You will need to rest for 12 hours post-surgery. It will then take some time for full recovery. Bruising, swelling and numbness tends to last for up to a month. It is recommended that you do not undertake strenuous activities for three weeks after the procedure.

Side-Effects

SculpSure

VASERlipo

No long-term side effects. No bruising. Patients may have some short-term swelling and mild to moderate tenderness. Swelling, bruising, numbness around the treated area and some pain are all common side-effects of VASERlipo. Sometimes patients have experienced build-up of fluid around the treated area which needs to be drained.

Anaesthesia Needed?

SculpSure

VASERlipo

Since SculpSure is non-invasive you won’t need any anaesthetic. Yes, anaesthetic is needed for VASERlipo. Normally a local anaesthetic is used but sometimes a general anaesthetic may be used.
